As wild and rule-free as we'd love to be, I am beholden to McGraw-Hill and will be working on deadlines and that will necessitate some framework for what and how the content goes into the book.   I am going to depend on you guys as a major source of wisdom and all those years you have put into CRM can perhaps be recognized. So what I want to do here is outline the rules and benefits that you will get from participating in this experiment.

Community Rules

  1. You have to agree to the terms of the Acceptable Use policy to be part of this private wiki. This is not a public wiki.
  2. Only registered members of MyCRMCareer can be members of the CRMSOL community.
  3. ANY and ALL contributions that are made MUST BE SIGNED (meaning that you have to put your name by it) or it won't be considered. The reason for that is that you need to be a registered member of the community on  the one hand and I need the name for attribution in the book, on the other. Besides, you should stand by what you think, dontcha think?
  4. When making a contribution of any kind, I need a reason as to why I should consider it. Keep in mind, this is the book that is called the "Bible of CRM" and in order to meet a standard that reflects its importance, each contribution will need some justification. My neck is on the line.
  5. If there is a quote from some other source that you are using in the course of your contribution, the third party source needs to be attributed or it won't be considered and in fact will be summarily deleted. This will be an important part of the Acceptable Use Policy that you have to agree to in order to be part of this community
  6. Please DO NOT create new pages.  Because this is a book that is already under contract to a publisher and because there are serious time constraints, I can't add chapters. So, if you have something interesting, please find the appropriate chapter and put it in there.  If you can't find a fit within an existing chapter title, I can't do it.

Community Membership Benefits

  • ANY contribution used in the book will be attributed in some way in the book.
  • If a member makes multiple contributions that are used, they will get some form of escalated recognition - ranging from a personal acknowledgment (beyond a listing) to a contributing editor status for the book
  • There will be monthly and random prizes awarded for the best and most contributions that will be something that the community members will enjoy because the prizes will be tailored to be enjoyable according to what you've requested (see prize vote page)
  • There will be the opportunity for vendors to self-promote though there will be limits on how that's presented (see CRMSOL FAQ for the answers to that one)
  • There will be opportunities to get some free consulting time from me and others that will not be available anywhere else on MyCRMCareer.com and, in fact, anywhere else at all.
  • You can say you were part of the one of the coolest crowdsourcing experiments EVER.
  • If you're interested, you will be listed as a press source for this, somewhere on the wiki and there will be an area where you can put your bio so that if a suitable business opportunity comes along,  you're there.
